Reminder: New Halo 3 maps available now
We know that with the slew of new games being released, it's easy to forget about a little indie title called Halo 3 that came out in late September. But don't you miss those first days? Don't you miss that feeling you got when you first ripped open the plastic, greedily snatching the disc within and sliding it into your 360, praying all the while that the rings would not choose this day to visit you?
Now, you can reclaim a bit of that old wonder with the new, 800-point Heroic Map Pack, which is now available on Xbox Live. For $10, you can get three new maps (Foundry, Standoff and Rat's Nest) and remind yourself why even old, old, old men can recognize Halo 3's greatness.

rockintom @ Dec 11th 2007 5:36PM
Right. Totally homosexual to go buy points.
Bloo @ Dec 11th 2007 12:59PM
Can these maps be used on COD4?
sifer2400 @ Dec 11th 2007 1:01PM
LOL its getting that desperate eh?
Bloo @ Dec 11th 2007 1:37PM
We'll let your puncuation and spelling fou paux pass, but you get no love for not having a sarcasm detector. In all seriousness though, most of the people on my 80+ long friends list have already stopped playing Halo 3 for COD4 or have gone back to Gears.
xFenixKnightx @ Dec 11th 2007 1:41PM
In the pre-game lobby on COD4 I always like to ask "Wheres the sword on this map?" Everybody busts out laughing!
xFenixKnightx @ Dec 11th 2007 1:48PM
Bloo,
"most of the people on my 80+ long friends list have already stopped playing Halo 3 for COD4 or have gone back to Gears."
Same here, but i only have about 30 peeps on my list.
I popped good ole' Gears in this past Sat morning and had some good times.
Grant @ Dec 11th 2007 1:56PM
"In all seriousness though, most of the people on my 80+ long friends list have already stopped playing Halo 3 for COD4 or have gone back to Gears."
Really....Gears? Why?
i think COD4 has the best set-up for a long life of multiplayer with a bunch with continuous unlockables. i stopped playing H3 for COD4 and have only gone back to it to play rocket race a few times.
But you can only go through prestige mode so many times until you get bored, so i think in the long run, people will be playing Halo 3 soon enough, especially with these new maps.
Bloo @ Dec 11th 2007 2:05PM
"Really....Gears? Why?"
Well, I have been playing online MP since the original Duke Nukem and even with the glitches, host advantage, and horrible party system - In my opinion Gears is the best multiplayer I have ever played.
rv @ Dec 11th 2007 2:26PM
I love cod4 but I really have a problem with the maps. It seems like there is always an enemy spawning behind you.
onetrueping @ Dec 11th 2007 2:33PM
Bloo, that's "faux pas," and the term is reserved specifically for SOCIAL mistakes, which frankly nothing on the internet could possibly count as. Don't lecture others on how to spell if you can't yourself, hm?
onetrueping @ Dec 11th 2007 2:34PM
On second thought, your own "correction" could be considered a faux pas. Hm, irony.
Bloo @ Dec 11th 2007 2:36PM
@onetrueping, my mispelling of faux pas was a conscious one - sorry you didn't see the irony. And this message board is quite social. Now go back to playing WoW and eating your cheetos.
onetrueping @ Dec 11th 2007 2:39PM
Because deliberate misspellings are so easy to spot, hm? It was still a stupid thing to say. Now, go take your rage out elsewhere instead of joining the crowd that keeps the Joystiq comments so low-quality.
Bloo @ Dec 11th 2007 2:48PM
No, yours was a stupid thing to say. Now, go take your rage out elsewhere instead of joining the crowd that keeps the Joystiq comments so low-quality.
See what I did there?
onetrueping @ Dec 11th 2007 2:52PM
Oh, look at that. You've "won" the conversation. Congratulations, your prize is basking in the glory that is people bowing in awe at your verbal sparring abilities.
Bloo @ Dec 11th 2007 3:04PM
Seriously onetrueping, you should turn off WoW every now and then and interact with real people.
onetrueping @ Dec 11th 2007 3:28PM
Because obviously anyone who plays World of Warcraft isn't a real person, and thus interacting with them is far less sociable than shooting people online with a vocabulary consisting largely of words with only four letters.
I'd compare your classing of other people as "second-class citizens" for playing a game you don't personally like to a few certain organizations, but I'm holding out hope that invoking Godwin's Law won't be necessary to make you stop posting. At any rate, I'm definitely through here... brick walls rarely have anything interesting to say.
TJ0331 @ Dec 11th 2007 1:03PM
They charged people ten bucks for 3 maps? And one is a big empty box?!
Delgado @ Dec 11th 2007 1:13PM
I totally agree.
I'm going to buy them, and I would have had no qualms had there been 3 complete maps. Even though I imagine Foundry will be cool to play with... you pretty much ARE paying for one "incomplete" map that I for one will rarely use.
IMO, 4 maps for $10 makes more sense to me, especially if one of them is Foundry-like. The other two look like fun though.
TJ0331 @ Dec 11th 2007 1:19PM
But they even said that one of the maps is just a half a level from the game. So really it is just that one map that looked like a days work. I don't know. Count me out.
343 Guilty Fart @ Dec 11th 2007 3:51PM
Delgado-
Foundry is a 'complete map', there is a default setting that is ready to go and playable. It doesn't ship as a blank slate, but has the added benefit of being able to be used as a blank slate. Just so you and others are aware!
Daxter1985 @ Dec 11th 2007 1:04PM
no maps for me,got rrod 3 days ago :(
xFenixKnightx @ Dec 11th 2007 1:27PM

xFenixKnightx @ Dec 11th 2007 1:30PM
They look sweet! Payday is manana so Ill get them after work and checkem out.
Mike @ Dec 11th 2007 1:31PM
I'd buy them for $5 and not a penny more. $10 is just too greedy.
Speddy @ Dec 11th 2007 1:34PM
These will be free in time for Spring break '08, right?
Matt_M @ Dec 11th 2007 5:48PM
As an aside- my friend and I totally ride mongooses on Sandtrap yelling, "Wooooooooooo! Spring Break!"
(On private chat, of course.)
Norm @ Dec 11th 2007 1:43PM
I don't know how we could forget about them, we get a reminder every day with some kind of info about this map pack. I love the game news and the willingness to share info, but let it go, man! once is enough.
jduke @ Dec 11th 2007 1:47PM
Here's why I don't think these maps are worth the money.
1. Bungie said the maps won't show up if anyone in a matchmaking game hasn't bought them.
2. If, by chance, everyone in your game has bought them, then it is still randomized, and there is just as much a chance you'll get an old map as a new one.
Based on those odds, I don't feel I'll get my money's worth of playtime in the maps.
I know there will be a playlist just for the new maps, but just because I have new maps, I don't want them to be my exclusive maps.
For me, it's just as well to wait for them to be free.
Grant @ Dec 11th 2007 2:03PM
oh please, how hard is it to change playlists?
like 3 button presses?
Your either the laziest person alive or you just love making up excuses.
Obie @ Dec 11th 2007 2:06PM
THESE MAPS ARE GREAT!
EVERYONE GET THEM!...
....once they are free. ;)
UltimateQ @ Dec 11th 2007 2:18PM
Oh boy how craptastic.

That picture is frikkin awesome!
Bloo @ Dec 11th 2007 3:32PM
Well onetrueping, I'm glad your done. It was getting tiring responding to someone who tries so hard to appear intelligent. Valiant effort chap, good day.
Mike-453 @ Dec 11th 2007 4:00PM
Yea, a McDonalds meal is the same price as these maps, what would I rather do, stay in and cook food and get three maps to play and offer me hours of entertainment, or go out for one fast food meal.
The price is not a big deal to a shit load of people. Just compare it with other crap you would buy in your life.
Ants @ Dec 11th 2007 6:22PM
omg y arent my comments appearing?!
Ants @ Dec 11th 2007 6:23PM

Poisoned Al @ Dec 11th 2007 6:32PM

Jose @ Dec 11th 2007 7:55PM
